Spring Regional 2014 – Social Action Projects

Below you will find the 7 different options you can participate in as part of our Friday Kind Day on Spring Regional Convention 2014! See each item for a basic description of what that activity will include, and if you have any questions, contact the teen or advisor in that group. A Wider Circle

A Wider Circle is a neighbor to neighbor center for community service that provides free furniture for their homes to those who cannot afford it. Join Anna Schuman (609-731-9761) and Jessica Savitz (215-266-7665) as families come in to the showroom to choose furniture they need. Volunteers need to keep room stocked, accept donations, help families choose pieces, load furniture into cars/vans, and be helpful and pleasant!

Jewish Council For The Aging

This organization has multiple homes and day care centers for senior citizens. Sarah Morris (301-320-3944), BK (832-483-8683), and you guys will be running their afternoon activities, playing games, holding a short Shabbat service, and brightening the day of many seniors who will love your youthful energy!

Behrend Builders FULL!!

Perfect for those looking to get their hands dirty, this organization needs volunteers to help renovate and construct community buildings and shelters for homeless teens like you. Volunteers will be painting, patching drywall, helping the youth move in, landscaping, and other manliness! Ez Weiser (267-307-1515) and Shuey Mirkin (443-326-7005) will be sure to make this activity a blast!

Maryland Parks & Planning

For the environmentalist inside us all, join River (no pun intended) Teles (443-831-2910) and Malka Stahler (516-617-3425) as we help Maryland recover from the recent storms and tough winter. We will be building new cages for trees, and conducting trash cleanup for different parks and wooded areas.

Jewish Foundation for Group Homes

Miriam Waxman (443-435-3956) and Malya Levin (404-313-7866) need your help giving disabled individuals a great day to remember! We will be helping them with different arts and crafts, creating a Pre-Shabbat experience, and leaving the home with something they can use in the future!

Interfaith Works

This organization is a one stop shop for everything the homeless need in the Washington community. Arianna Stone (301-318-7123) and Rachel Sandler (610-209-7287) need volunteers to do everything from pack and sort food donations, distribute clothing and blankets, give the van a good car wash, cook hot meals, tend to the landscaping and more!

Hebrew Home of Greater Washington

Join Sarah Joseph (609-941-4133) and Lea Bekhar (917-215-7877) as we invigorate this old age home with activities, games, and more that will be sure to get their weekend off to a great start! Volunteers will entertain and spend time with residents who will love your company no matter what!
