This year, we are excited to announce three unique leadership and social action opportunities for you to participate in on Friday as an alternative to our opening iceskating activity. Why? Because there’s no better way to kick off an amazing weekend than through tikkun olam! Plus, it’s also a great time to make new friends.

Your options are:

1. Lobbying trip to the Pennsylvania State Capitol
Meet with State legislators and discuss recently introduced anti-bullying legislation. Thanks to the help of OU Advocacy, you will be prepped with advanced training and receive lobbying materials so you’ll know exactly what to say. The political advocacy experience is one that any and all teen leaders can benefit from!

2) Visit the Elders
Bring youthful vibrancy and Shabbat spirit to the residents of the Jewish Home of Harrisburg. As silly as this might sound, a few minutes of individualized attention to each resident, complemented with Shabbat songs, will surely bring a smile to each and every person’s face and make their day!

3) Group Home Visits
In conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg, help the developmentally disabled residents prepare for Shabbat. You’ll learn more about yourself in the two short hours you’re there than you ever imagined.
